Whilst working as a furniture designer in a London studio, Areta Mata started a jewellery short-course at Central Saint Martins and through craft, touch, and direct contact with materials she reconnected with her childhood. Weaving shoes out of leaves, constructing jewellery with the copper wire inside old telephone cables. After a decade in London she returned to her hometown of Barcelona to pursue a career in hand crafted jewellery and accessories.
